ISCP
The main focus of the School Sports Partnership is to develop and maintain the 'In School Coaching Programme'. This programme is tailor made to each individual school to meet the needs of the pupils and the teachers. It offers specialist coaching in a wide range of activities designed to deliver high quality lessons, linked to both local and regional competitions.
Curriculum
The Coaches/Teachers provided by the In School Coaching Programme are all familiar with the PE curriculum and supplement their lessons with detailed session plans and assessment of the pupils. The session plans are linked into PE schemes of work such as Durham and Rawmarsh with the assessment process linked to assessment levels. All lesson plans can be freely downloaded from this site in the download section.
After School
Afterschool clubs are an ideal way of providing additional support to your pupils outside of school hours. They can act as an ideal bridge from school to community sessions run by clubs. All schools signing up to a full day per term of the ISCP will receive a free afterschool club of their choice. Our coaches can offer a wide range of sports to either compliment your existing provision or enhance uptake from pupils by offering non traditional activities.
Competition
The Olympic Games has bought competition back into the public's eye and it now has an increasingly important role to play in young people's lives. Competition comes in two forms − 'Intra' and 'Inter' with the former being competition within your schools such as intra form/class and the latter being competition against other schools. All competitions held locally in Bury will be part of a pathway that links into county, regional and national competitions.
Development
The development of children, young people and teachers has always been at the heart of the work undertaken by the partnership. In Bury there has been a huge investment in sending coaches into schools to deliver high quality sessions and Continual Professional Development opportunities for teachers. Despite recent funding cuts the partnership remains committed to providing a similar approach to both young people and teachers.
